Business

Our client creates great online experiences that build lasting connections and relationships. Every user interaction makes a difference, and it is the goal of our client to ensure that every one of those experiences is great. This organisation serves and supports – on behalf of its prestigious clients – many thousands of people in the UK, and millions more around the world. Its core value is in designing, managing and delivering a wide range of services, made accessible to subscribers and consumers via intuitive, secure and stable digital platforms.

Role

Reporting to the UK CEO, this position is pivotal to the ongoing profitable growth of the business in its UK market, and to the success of its interactions with other Group entities. The CIO has a team of about 40 people in the UK across architecture, data, security, and platform development, all led by strong heads of department. There are many other vital relationships too, with third-party suppliers, outsourced service providers and Group colleagues. This market moves fast, and the CIO must be the leader of continuous improvement through transition, transformation, reorganisation and operational control of the IT and digital resources of the business to maintain alignment with the objectives of clients, subscribers, stakeholders, and regulators, as well as with company performance targets. The primary focus for the CIO is to understand client business models and then to own and ensure the creation of technologies and platforms that will support and deliver excellent experiences for the users and great results for the clients. In addition, the CIO will be a key member of the UK Senior Leadership Team, and also a member of an international IT/IS Strategy Steering Group. As such, this role is therefore one of commercial and strategic leadership, requiring clear direction, accountability, ownership and transparency – all at board level.
