Bakay graduated with a BA degree from the Ankara University Faculty of Political Science. He furthered his education by obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Çankaya University.
With over 25 years of experience, Bakay Korkmaz began his career in the banking industry. During the first 15 years, he held various executive positions, including Manager, Director and Group Head roles in Retail Banking Branch and Region Management, Sales Management, Product and Campaign Management and Wealth Management. His expertise was developed through his work at both local and multinational banks such as Citibank, Millenniumbank, Akbank, YapıKredi and HSBC.
After his extensive tenure in banking, Bakay Korkmaz transitioned to the fintech sector, where he served as CEO and Board Member at Paynet Payment Systems. He also held board memberships in several startups within the industry, contributing his leadership and strategic vision.
Bakay Korkmaz later worked as a business consultant for organizations such as Prometeia SPA and Veripark. He continues his consultancy career as a contracted independent consultant and expert, participating in international projects, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) “Youth in Banking” program.
