With thousands of employees and revenues of over £2billion this is a large, long-established and highly regarded group of businesses that provide a variety of products and services ranging from specialist engineering and critical infrastructure to property investment and logistics. Much of its income is from the UK, but it has overseas operations and numerous customers in Europe, the Middle East & North America. With advances in technology its markets are becoming ever more competitive, international and fast-moving.

This group is changing, and thanks to a new CEO, new CFO and a renewed focus on innovation and excellence there is rapid and ongoing positive transformation already underway. A new ERP system is being implemented and a raft of recent corporate transactions makes this a well-capitalised group now ideally positioned to realise its long-term growth strategy.

Role

Reporting to the Group CFO, the Group FC is responsible for: developing and ensuring compliance with accounting policy and procedures; imposing and maintaining rigour and discipline in accounting processes and reporting; leadership and development of the Central Finance & Services team; and deputising for the CFO as necessary.

In addition, the Group FC will lead and manage statutory reporting, FP&A, audits, treasury, financial control, forecasting, budgeting, AR/AP and the preparation of the Annual Report & Accounts.

The selected candidate will also be expected to deliver an effective Central Shared Services Centre following the successful implementation of the group-wide ERP system (IFS).

Candidate

• Chartered Accountant: FCA or ACA
• Relevant degree
• Experience as Group FC of a multi-subsidiary PLC
• Technical accounting excellence in holding company, matrix, JV and group structures
• Facilitator of effective management decision-making
• Working knowledge of PLC reporting
• Demonstrable experience of consolidating multiple complex business unit accounts
• Familiar with ERP system implementation and optimisation, ideally IFS
• Early career success with a respected audit firm
